Team Foil Championship 2010

Russell Swords had success at the recent Welsh Team Foil Championships, but complete victory was narrowly snatched away. The Men's team (Ethan Ridsdale, Max Weedon and Iolo Westacott) stormed through all opposition to face Gwent A in the final. The RS men dominated the match from the first fight so by the final fight they had secured a lead of 17 points! Leaving Gwent's Rhys Melia to scored 22 point before Iolo scored 5. Incredibly, and much to our consternation, he somehow managed it! I guess you don't become number 5 in the UK for no reason. This left the Men's Team in second, losing by just 3 hits.

The women's team (Elinor Robinson, Nat Brown, Marisol Russell and Morwenna Perrot) had similar luck: Despite a brave show the team was forced from the top spot by just 5 points. The lead, ironically being taken by RS regular Abi Difford.

The second Men's team (Hugo Vine, Gareth Streeter and Gareth Crowther) fought well against stiff competition but only managed 5th place - losing narrowly to Gwent B in the final match.

Congratulations to all our competitors!
