Over 3000 Pupils try Fencing with Russell Swords!
Russell Swords' School Outreach programme has intorduced the Sport of Fencing to over 3000 children in the South Wales area! The programme offers primary school free introductory lessons for all their students in years 3 to 6. The children learn to Lunge and Parry, whilst learning the importance of reflexes, speed and co-ordination.

The children use the inivotive 'mini-fence' equipment, developed specifically for the under 11's, allowing them to learn to sport in a fun and safe way. The sport is great for kids, developing their fitness whilst building confidence and co-ordination.

The session have gone down very well with children and staff alike:
"All of the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were all able to participate in some fencing activities. Peter organised the sessions in a safe manner and provided the pupils with a unique experience that was both fun and stimulating. I would highly recommend him to repeat the sessions in any Primary School with pupils in KS2."
Liz Counsell - Head Teacher, Lakeside Primary
"Single-handedly the most enjoyable and engaging sport session I have ever seen! You might think Fencing would be like marmite, some will love it and some will hate it, but from what I can see everyone who does it absolutely loves it. It's a unique opportunity for young people to try something different, and it's great to see so many non-participants getting active and enjoying sport. The sessions are controlled, safe, engaging and most of all fun! The pupils at Barry Comprehensive absolutely love Fencing, and we have new members joining the sessions every week"
Ben Williams - Barry Comp 5x60 Officer
"If you would like to give the children an opportunity to try something a little bit different and something that will encourage the children to become more active, then I can whole-heartedly recommend the coaches from this club, as we would have no hesitation inviting them back."
Michael Staggs, PE Co-ordinator, Moorland Primary School
“Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their lessons which were very well planned and organised. Equipment was very well organised and children learnt how to hold and use them safely and sensibly. The management and organisation of my class of 29 children was very good. Rules and instructions were clearly explained so that children knew what to do and remained on task throughout the session. Skills were modelled extremely well enabling the children to learn them up easily. The children’s activities were monitored and advise given to improve their skills/actions.”
Mrs Barrow, Class teacher of J8, Cadoxton Primary School, Barry
The children really enjoyed it, they were so enthusiastic during and after the session. Do come again.
